Abstract
El desempleo y la pobreza en Ecuador y Chimborazo corresponden a dos temas de análisis y discusión tanto en foros académicos, como en estamentos políticos y sociales. Los crecientes índices de desempleo y pobreza en el país especialmente acentuados en 2020 a raíz de la pandemia mundial provocada por el Covid-19 son aspectos relevantes que han sido analizados en este trabajo. Por tanto, mediante una revisión documental se presenta un diagnóstico actual de la situación en la provincia de Chimborazo y en el país en los sectores empresariales y comerciales. Se concluye que el comportamiento del desempleo en Ecuador y Chimborazo sigue la tendencia regional y mundial que ha ocasionado el coronavirus y que nuestra economía al ser frágil ha tenido un impacto significativo.
